Until recently efforts to leverage Linux in automotive focused on IVI subsystem. Nevertheless looking at next generation of cars, it is obvious that future architectures for automotive should cover a much wider scope. Next generation of automotive architecture should start in vehicle at sensors level where low level data are collected to end in the cloud where all information are correlated to provide high value service to users.

This talk presents a global architecture prospective based on existing and in development components from AGL and other open-source projects. Next generation of in vehicle Linux will act as a global gateway to expose in a secure manner all car capabilities to the external world [sensor, mobile, cloud, smart-city, car-2-car,…] This global connectivity introduce new technical challenges that should be addressed with an open and secure end to end vision.
